coton - On and off for a bit has added a photo to the pool:
More manual practice using a different lens DT 1.8/50... love the dreamy blur I can get with this one, so I took advantage to do some macro shots in our garden.. : ))
We have had few flowers appearing this year so far.... when I mean 'few' I literally mean one or two of each plant actually flowering.
At the beginning of the year we ordered and planted loads of Bee and Butterfly friendly plants for the garden to make it very informal but hopefully abundant.. Some have survived but most have not sadly..
The unpredictability of the weather has put paid to that, then we have been infested with snails too..
At the beginning of the year the greenery from my oriental poppies was looking the best its ever been, but out of about 30 buds we have had 3 flowering heads and thats it! the rest just rotted and did not flower.. Pretty indicative of the majority of our regular annual plants this year.
Some of the new hardier plants seem ok getting established like the lavender and Budlea, they will be better next year. The new tree lillies have shot up like nothing else and I look forward to seeing their flowers later..
Mind you, we ARE seeing bees as I hoped but not one butterfly in the garden yet...
