We’ve got a decorative barometer that hangs on the wall at home that is filled with water colored by green food coloring. The liquid moves up and down with the atmospheric pressure. When a big storm is approaching, there is often a marked difference in the level of the water in the main vessel vs. that in the teapot-like stem. Unfortunately (or fortunately, actually) for this shot, there is no storm on the way, so the levels are pretty much equal. But if you look closely at the stem, you can see a line that the water has risen to in the past.
