I love lamp.

I am not a fan of Valentine's Day, strictly because of the commercialization. North American's will spend millions on V-Day cards, chocolates, stuffed animals, candies and jewelry...stuff they can do without. In spirit of this, my boyfriend thought it would be better to not only make me something, but to make me something useful and needed. I've never owned a lamp in my life.

Note that came with the lamp:
"...to brighten up your day."

I can safely say that this is one of the coolest, thoughtful and useful gifts I've ever received. I'd say his engineering degree is coming into good use :P

*All materials were purchased at a hardware store. The lamp head was painted black, and the "swtich" is a one-way on/off dial taken from a piping piece. These were advertised on sale at $300 each. This cost $60 to make.
