On one of my usual cycle routes there is an area where there is a large concentration of Orthodox Jewish people and every time I cycle past I love watching them go about their every day life a little envious that I don't have the guts to ask them if I can take a photo.
This gentleman was out walking with two young boys as I happened to cycle past today and I nearly cycled into a ditch just staring at him. It was now or never so I forced myself to go back and introduce myself to him while explaining that I would love to take a photo of him and it was just for personal use (believe me that sounded a lot less seedier in my head). His reply was that he does not pose for photos but I could snap away if I wanted while he was out walking. Not the best I've taken but I'm just happy that I stepped outside my comfort zone and now know I will go back with my other camera. Moral of the story: You don't ask you don't get, so just do it :).
